Heartburn – Is there really a cure? YES!

Article by CL Williams

Are you one of those people that have suffered from a burning sensation in your chest after your meal?

Did you just answer yes? Then there is a good chance you may have had a case of heartburn caused by acid reflux.

Having heartburn is a very common condition, with almost half of the population suffering from heartburn once a month if not more. Almost everyone is looking to cure heartburn and have relief.

One way to double check this to see if you have heartburn – do you find yourself buying antacids or something like ginger ale to relieve what you are feeling? Chances are you have acid reflux.

Acid reflux is also known as gastro esophageal reflux (the medical term sounds a little scary) occurs when the acid from the stomach flows back into the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which is the valve above the stomach that opens up and allows acids back up in to the esophagus. This can also cause discomfort in the throat.

If you have tried one if not more than one over the counter medications and find only temporary relief, you may think to yourself, what next? Well there are a few things to try:

Eating slowly, chewing your food allows the saliva to neutralize the acid in your stomach to help with digestion. Document everything you eat and yes drink. Many people think this is from food only. Keep track so you can avoid eating or drinking anything that may have caused heartburn. Here is the tough one, lose extra weight especially if it is around the stomach area. The extra pressure can cause more backup from the stomach to the chest area. With the world as it is today, another tough one – avoid stress. Although this is not directly related to heartburn, any interruptions in your normal day can disrupt your balance. Avoid fried foods, yes I know, this is getting tougher. Fat is harder to digest and that fat will stay in your stomach longer. Okay, there is still an emphasis on fat… Try eating smaller meals more often so there is not too much on your stomach. Fiber is your friend. Having fruits, whole grains and vegetables will help (just do not load up on butter or other fat on the veggies and whole grains). Yes, I mentioned fat again. If you smoke, STOP! Besides the expense, overall it is not good for you and your saliva is sucked up by it! Pardon the pun. Here is the last of the tough tips – Get a good nights sleep. Okay, stop laughing. If you lay flat on your back, this can cause acid reflux. You need to prop up your pillows. If you do not want to add more pillows, try folding up a blanket and adjust it to where you feel comfortable.

These are a few tips that will work for some of you reading this, but for those of you that do not feel relief or those that did have some relief and want more, then you need to consider a holistic approach.

Besides myself, there are many others that have suffered from acid reflux and have found relief in this holistic approach.

www.robert-lawrence.com Song written by John Richards. Unfortunately, most wars are fought for reasons completely different from the reasons given by the government propaganda machine. When a government wants to fight a war for political or financial gain, it has to convince the men and women of the armed forces that it is a just a right fight. Very few in the military will fight and die willingly for what they perceive as an unjust cause. So, government invents a reason to go to war that will ignite the patriotism of the fighting forces. The Iraq war is a good example of this. President Bush continually tried to link Iraq with the 9-11 attacks. It was well know that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, but the lie was repeated often enough that it was, and is even now, believed by many people. The act of desertion is of course a huge threat to governments for obvious reasons. Therefore the deserter has always been treated in the harshest manner. In the First World War, deserters were tried by Court Marshal and when found guilty (which they always were); they were sentenced to be shot by firing squad. Some were shot during the act of desertion without a trial. An example had to made. In 2006 the British government pardoned all the deserters who were executed in World War One. Im not sure if they will also pardon deserters from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Unless you have been there, its probably best not to condemn a deserter. It is, in most cases, the desperate final act
