No Pardons For Making These Copywriting Failures

Copywriting might seem like it is hard to understand or to correctly apply, but there are going to be times when you want to exceed expectations. Obviously this won’t be possible if you make any of the easily avoidable mistakes we’ll talk about in this article.

One of the biggest mistakes is not learning at least the basic details about what they are promoting. When you don’t know much about the product you are promoting it will show and nobody will buy from you. Your prospect could easily figure out that you do not know very much about the product. Your conversion rate will suffer and so will your profit margin. So always remember to learn everything you possibly can about the subject of your writing from pros to cons and in betweens. After learning everything you can about the product you’ll be able to use your creativity to sell it. When you’re sure of these points, you could easily be crystal clear to your prospect and give them a fair idea about it. Think of the headline as the sales copy for your copy because that is the job it has to do – get your letter read. Your headline must do two things; stop the reader and get attention, and then compel the reader to want to know more. To drive the point home, just remember that your headlines will only get about two seconds, roughly, to get the job done and make the reader want to know more. So that is why all the professional copywriters spend a great deal of time on the headline. There are several approaches to writing headlines, and we cannot cover all of them here; but one often-mentioned approach involves putting your product’s biggest benefit in the headline. Once you have a good headline setup, half the battle is won.

Where you introduce your product price is very important in all sales letters. It really can make a difference with price placement because if you talk about it too early, people will leave before they read the most important parts of your letter. Why is that, you ask? When people see the price they immediately start working on their decision about the product. You first want them to know about the benefits and then about the price, so that they don’t take their decision just based on the price. One suggestion to avoid any possible writer’s block is to just write without judging your work, and keep in mind that all can be corrected, revised, or changed during the editing process. Also, make sure your price is clearly mentioned so that your readers won’t miss it. Don’t unconsciously attempt to ‘slip it in’ with all the other text because there should be no reason to feel like you need to hide it.

Just try to be aware of the above mistakes so that your copy converts well and gets you more sales.
