Dealing With Infidelity – To Pardon Or Not to Pardon is the Question

Dealing with infidelity is a major area of concern in any marriage, even when promiscuity, in several developed cultures is as commonplace as brushing your teeth. Some protagonists of extra-marital affairs say that infidelity is a great ego, confidence and performance booster, and it is perfectly acceptable, so long as you do not get caught!

Even when you know what to expect, infidelity, every time it happens, creates ripples around the people concerned, bringing shame and infamy to the families concerned. Of the people who are directly involved with infidelity, it is difficult to say who suffers most – as they are all dealing with infidelity in their own way, trying to bring sanity into their own little worlds.

Over and above the people who are directly involved in the ‘affair’, there are scores of others who try to barge in – giving advice, offering counseling help and so on. Of course, there are the inevitable other lot, who simply add their bit to the story and make it the juiciest topic for the next cocktail party in office.

You can either cheat or be cheated up on. While both the situations demand dealing with infidelity, the only change is in the perspective. In this article, let me talk about dealing with infidelity, when you have been cheated and now suffering from the eternal dilemma, which every victim of infidelity has to face: to pardon or not to pardon.

Though every individual has his or her own life story regarding how and why the extra-marital affair happened, etc., these hardly matter when it is ultimately a matter of making a choice. You too could be having your own rationale regarding dealing with infidelity. Nevertheless, you cannot deny that no matter whether you pardon or not, the ‘affair’ would impact your life in a number of ways in the future. Therefore, it is up to you to decide whether you can handle the post-infidelity era of the relationship maturely and with grace. Here are some points to ponder:

When you pardon:

o By pardoning the errant spouse, you have undoubtedly shown your undying love for your partner, as well as your forgiving attitude. However, dealing with infidelity would also involve how you handle your life with the same errant partner in future. Can you pardon unconditionally?
o Can you completely forget the episode while dealing with infidelity?
o Be very sure why you are pardoning. Is it because you feel pity for the ‘helpless and distressed’ spouse? Or is that you feel that everyone deserves a second chance?
o Are you prepared to walk that extra mile, making the necessary compromises in your behavior and attitudes, so that you can continue with the relationship?

When you do not pardon:

o First of all, you need to have very good reasons why pardoning the errant spouse is out of the question. Repetition of the same deed is a good reason; permanent incompatibility is another.
o Be prepared to face some ugly aftermath, depending on the kind of person your spouse is. Things can turn nasty, legally as well as emotionally.
o When dealing with infidelity, the question of not pardoning only comes up when you fail to see eye-to-eye with your spouse regarding the reasons for the affair to happen in the first place.

At the end of the day, dealing with infidelity requires a tremendous amount of patience, fortitude, grace and of course immense amount of love in case you want to continue living with the errant spouse. It is your call, what you want your life to be.

Whether you are still together and and trying to deal with infidelity or you are already separated and want to save your marriage… the next step is absolutely crucial!

Don’t make the mistake of saying or doing something that will kill your chances of getting back together with your spouse. Visit my site to find out what you need to do to save your marriage and emotionally reconnect with your spouse again.

Question by : Can I get a pardon of my criminal history if i am on parole?
I was recently released from prison about a year ago. I am filing a petition for executive clemency. What I want to know is if I am still on parole will they allow my current case to be pardoned?

Best answer:

Answer by fire4511
If the pardon is granted, it will end your parole. The simple fact is that you have very little chance of pardon until well after your complete sentence is served (including all parole and probation time), and you have established a history that shows that you have changed your ways.

Alkaline Or Acidic? That’s the Question!

First things first: body pH is vitally important to your health! That’s why we hear so much talk about acidity and alkalizing. These things matter.

So what is pH?

pH is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution as in the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. The scale ranges from extremely acidic (a pH of 0 and lower) to extremely basic or alkaline (a pH of 14). If a solution has a pH of 7, it is considered neutral. Pure water, for example, has a pH of 7.0.

The pH scale is logarithmic, meaning that the difference in one pH unit, say from 6.0 to 7.0 represents a solution that is actually 10 times more alkaline. (This is similar to the Rickter scale which measures earthquake magnitude (an earthquake of 4.0 is 10 times stronger than one of 3.0).

Great! Now that we have a basic (pardon the pun!) understanding of pH, let’s look at how pH is regulated in the body.

Body pH is a measure of certain fluids of the body. A healthy pH for these fluids is: 7.4 for blood, 7.0 for saliva, and 6.0 for urine. Because the body seeks homeostasis, it tries to maintain healthy pH levels.

However, if you partake of the standard North American diet (high levels of sugar, processed foods, and protein from dairy and meat), your pH values are definitely lower toward the acidic side.

So what, you might be saying! Well the ‘so what’ is worth your investigation. Did you know that many diseases actually prefer an acidic environment? Cancer, bacterial infection, diabetes, and fatigue are all associated with a low pH. Further, low body pH creates a hospitable environment for colds and flu, promotes heart disease, as well as creating sensitivities to foods and common allergens. Some of the extreme pH advocates suggest that ALL disease has a component of pH imbalance.

Does everyone agree?

The notion of body pH is still pretty new and there are many who immediately discount its importance.

Critique: Our stomachs use acid to digest and, therefore, whatever we eat becomes acidic in our body.

Our response: Not true. When food mixes with our digestive juices and nutrients are absorbed, what remains is similar to ash from a fire. It is the ash from digestion that dictates if a food is acid or alkaline forming, and contributes to our pH level. And every food does not turn into acidic ash!

Critique: The body can compensate for the fluctuations in pH.

Our response: This is partly true. The body does seek to maintain balance and has ways to manage acid load. However, neutralization comes at a cost. Calcium, potassium, bicarbonate, glutamine, and magnesium are stripped from our bones and muscles in the body’s attempt to maintain homeostasis.

For example, when we drink a glass of milk, the body leaches calcium from the bones during digestion in order to offset the acidity. Surprising, isn’t it! As such, drinking milk is actually a poor way of obtaining usable calcium (opposite to what the dairy industry would have us believe!). Did you know that though North Americans are some of the largest consumers of dairy, we also have one of the highest instances of osteoporosis in the world? The acidifying effects of dairy are eating up our calcium during the digestive process creating brittle, fragile bones. Calcium is better obtained through other sources!

So what exactly affects my pH? Body pH is affected by the food you eat, emotional stress, as well as environmental toxins and pollutants.

How do I know what foods are acidic and what foods are alkaline?

Acid Forming:

Animal products including meat, dairy and fats
Sugars, preservatives and food chemicals (i.e. artificial sweeteners, colors flavors, fillers, thickeners)
Most grains, nuts and fruit (because of high sugar content)

Alkaline Forming:

Most vegetables (exception: potatoes)
Some fruits (lemons, limes, tomatoes, avocados, sour cherries, coconut, grapefruit)
Almonds (best if soaked for an hour or more prior to eating)

How do I promote alkalinity in my body?

Eat more plants! In general plants are alkalizing and still contain good amounts of protein, as well as a wealth of nutrients and minerals not present in animal products and all without the cholesterol! Vegetables which are particularly alkalizing: celery and all kinds of sprouts.
Drink lots of water. Balance the pH in your water by adding lemon or baking soda. Or if you have some money to spend, invest in a reverse osmosis water filtration system which removes impurities that contribute to disease and fatigue.
Reduce stress in your life through meditation, friendship and laughing.
Eliminate household products that add to your toxic load. Go green. Use natural cleaners and do away with those intense fragrances that mask smells and damage health.
Interestingly, though a lemon seems like an acidic fruit, the ash it produces in the body is, in fact, alkaline. Take advantage of the lemon! Add it to water, squeeze it on salad or fish, juice it with a handful of carrots. Delicious.

With that sense of determination and sacrifice, America has built a powerful economy, stood against tyranny, fought for equality, and connected the globe with our own science and imagination. And by working together as one people — as Americans — we can overcome the challenges currently facing our nation. Today, like millions of other families across America, Michelle, Malia, Sasha and I will sit down to share a Thanksgiving filled with family and friends — and a few helpings of food and football, too. And just as folks have done in every Thanksgiving since the first, we’ll spend some time taking stock of what we’re thankful for: the God-given bounty of America, and the blessings of one another. This is also a holiday that captures that distinctly American impulse to give something of ourselves. Even as we speak, there are countless Americans serving at soup kitchens and

Question by Ylanne Sorrows: Can someone who is in prison serving a sentence be granted a presidential pardon?
The website for the Department of Justice offers information concerning individuals who have already completed a sentence for a federal conviction who wish to petition for a presidential pardon, which would be a sign of ‘forgiveness’ for the offense pardoned.

The DOJ says that folks are not eligible to petition until five years after the completion of a prison sentence, or if they are merely sentenced to some form of probation/parole, community service, or restitution, five years from the sentencing date.

However, even if one does not petition for it, (as is the case with the potential ‘preemptive pardons’ for the US interrogators and personnel in Guantanamo under President Bush), is it possible for the President to grant a pardon? Specifically, if one is serving a federal prison sentence or on death row, without petitioning for a pardon, may the President of the United States grant one?

Also, if one were in such a situation as described hypothetically above, aside from being ‘forgiven’ for the offenses, would there be any real effects on the individual pardoned? If so, what?

Please help.
And if someone is in prison serving their sentence and they are granted a Presidential pardon, how soon is it before they are released?

Best answer:

Answer by tonalc2
A person has to wait five years to *ask* for a pardon.

However, the president can grant a pardon to whomever. Or, in the case of Scooter Libby, commute the sentence.

Break Up of Relationships and the Question of Love

Article by Mark Partridge

People find attraction in one another and when that attraction is strong, there is quite naturally a desire to share more fully in each others lives. The ‘bonding’ has begun.

But being attracted to each other is not the be all and end all of what it takes to create a deep and lasting relationship. It is good to share common values and interests and to take pleasure in the same things, but of equal, if not greater importance is that the two minds involved think similarly.

All too often emotional attraction is mistaken for love, but this is not love, it is emotional attraction. The point I am making is that emotions of warmth, affection and sensual delight towards someone you find attractive are indeed expressions of love, but they are not the essence of love.

In general, people understand the concept of friendship far better than they understand the condition of love. This is because love has been complicated by romantic ideology which obscures loves’ simple beauty and tries to fashion it into an unreal state which cannot be sustained. This is why there is talk about “the first flush of love” which eventually fades with time, often before marriage can take place or within the first few years of marriage, never to appear again. The “flush” begins to turn into a dead hand (if you’ll pardon the allusion to card games) because it is fashioned upon a notion, an invention.

Love expresses itself in many ways but it is not in itself, those ‘ways’. It is the generator of those ‘ways’.

The giddy height of emotional attraction which is so often mistaken for love, is more akin to a physiological condition which is a little out of control. Love, on the other hand, is calm and deep.

Love is not flustered or easily swayed. It does not move in and out of mood- swings, likes and dislikes, nor is it deceitful or self-serving. It does not rely upon agreement, nor does it seek to manipulate and persuade. How many recognize this description of love? Is it not more usual to say that love is that funny feeling you get inside when the object of your attraction appears. Or perhaps, that love is never having to say you are sorry, or, “If you really loved me, you would do this for me.”

So what is love if it is not emotion?

It is a knowledge.

Building a lasting bond, must be founded upon the basis of that knowledge otherwise it will not be long before cracks begin to appear. Those cracks can be cosmetically patched but if knowledge of love remains absent, those cracks will reappear, deepened and more damaging. This often happens when we are young and very much want to find someone to love.

When you possess the knowledge of love you are less inclined to get involved too easily because you know that there needs to be time to get acquainted before making any serious move towards commitment. Sometimes it will be discovered that actually you do not have any real similarity of minds and that it would have been a terrible mistake to become involved. Often, this is discovered after the relationship is under way.

Passion is often considered to be an essential element of a relationship and is generally suggestive of erotica, but it is more likely to lead to disappointment and a feeling that something is missing than to being the cement of a strong union. Yet conversely, two individuals who can share passionately in something they hold dear, are drawn much closer to each other through the sharing of that interest.

The meeting of minds has far more to do with love than the thrill of physical union.

When ‘lovers’ quarrel and part, it should not be the physicality of their relationship which is first missed. If it is, they were never aware, in the first place, of what love is. But if one or both, miss talking to the other, or sharing in activities they both enjoyed, then there is hope for them and every chance of putting aside the difficulties which caused them to part.

There is a misconception which suggests that two people who fall in love, somehow become a single entity or that such a state should be striven for and this explains why you will see so many long-term partners who dress similarly or men who are dressed by their wives. The loss of ones individuality has nothing whatever to do with love. Love sets you free and even encourages you to be more of who you are. The best relationships are those in which the two who share the knowledge of love become greater as individuals (because of their union) than they would be if they had not met, but this does not mean that one sacrifices their individuality to the other.

In the end, knowing HOW to love, is far more important than ‘falling’ in love.
