The Beginner’s Guide to Easy Guitar Lessons

Article by James Smith by The Top Guitars

Here you will find some easy to follow and understand lessons and guidance for some easy guitar lessons. You don’t have to spend a fortune to get started, but the most important thing is to take action and commit to learning.First Guitar Lesson – How To Hold The GuitarYou will most likely feel most comfortable in a sitting position with the guitar perched on your leg. Your dominant hand will be used to pluck or strum the strings. Your left hand will be position on the neck of the guitar, with the guitar resting on your left leg. Get the feel of the position but try and make sure the guitar is close and straight. If the guitar slips off your leg don’t fret (pardon the pun) this is normal, as you will probably be checking on your finger positions. Most important thing to make the most of some easy guitar lessons is that you feel natural and comfortable.Second Lesson – The ChordsHere we will focus on the first four frets of the guitar. Frets are the spaces between each raised metal vertical line on the neck of the guitar. The guitar has 6 strings running horizontally down the guitar. Your fingers will be numbered 1,2 and 3. With Finger 1 being the index finger.Third Lesson – The Three Basic ChordsThe A chord is the simplest chord to learn. All three fingers go on the second fret. The first string is the thinnest string at the bottom. Your three fingers will be placed as follows; Finger 1 onto the 4th string; Finger 2 onto the 3rd string; Finger 3 onto the 2nd string. Now strum with your right hand. The E chord is another relatively easy chord to play. Finger 1 goes onto the 1st Fret and the 3rd string; Fingers 2 and 3 then go onto the 2nd Fret with Finger 2 onto the 5th string and Finger 3 onto the 4th string. Finally the D chord – a little tricky for beginners sometimes. Fingers 1 and 2 go on the 2nd Fret. Finger 2 onto the 1st string and Finger 1 on the 3rd string. Fingers 3 should be placed on the 3rd Fret on string number 2.Fourth Guitar Lesson – Easy Guitar Lessons – Strumming and Changing ChordsThose first three chords will allow you to play such tunes as Hey Jude by the Beatles as well as some others. An important skill is strumming. This is basically done by moving your dominant hand (usually your right hand) up and down whilst forming the chords with your left hand. Just keep a nice steady pace, don’t rush, and of course practice, practice, practice. You should hear nice clean tones from the guitar. If there are some fuzzy notes you may not quite have the left and fingers in the correct position or they may be touching other strings.Master the basic chords first and then you can set a beat, and then start changing to a different chords before moving on to the next beat. You can practice strumming and changing chords more effectively by playing your favorite song with a slow beat. These are some easy guitar lessons that will motivate you to learn more and practice more – so have fun!Visit our website at http://www.thetopguitars.com.
