To Baptize in Water

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Matthew 3 :11John was sent to baptize with water and to prepare the way for the coming of Jesus. His call was familiar to all “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” John called people to repent and to be baptized with water.

To turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life”. We are to first make the decision to turn away from our sinful past . We are then to dedicate ourself to the correction of our life. So in other words we have to make that decision ourselves to turn away from sin and to correct our future. In Acts 3 : 38 there was an instruction, a condition and a reward! The instruction is to be baptized in water. the condition is to repent.

What is the reward? “Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.” The reward is the remission of sins, but what is the remission of sins mean? One dictionary says “forgiveness or pardon, as of sins or crimes. Cancellation of or release from a debt”. Another definition is the tearing out of that sinful nature. When we are baptized in water, we get released from the debt of our sins from our past! These sins are forcefully removed from us and we no longer are subject to them.

Acts 3:38 Then Peter said to them,”Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

This is a direct instruction to us to baptize in water. The instruction comes with a condition . The condition is that we should repent. John also carried the same condition in his call that we should comply with prior to him being able to baptize in water. Repent!

What is it to repent? The Mirriam webster dictionary says “

Infant baptism is carried out in a few religions and many of us were indeed baptized as infants. If we look at the above we find that infant baptism does not hold true to the bible for the simple reason that an infant is incapable of repenting. The baptism of Jesus himself , took place at the age of approx 30 years. The people that John had to baptize in water were mostly adults and he called them to first repent.

If you were subjected to infant baptism, please note that infant baptism is not without purpose. It serves the purpose of dedicating your child to the ways of the Lord. However infant baptism does not substitute to baptize with water. Once your child is of the age that they are fully capable of making their own decisions, they need to make the choice of repenting and being baptized in water.

Romans 6 : 3 ” Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?Romans 6 : 4 ” Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should also walk in newness of life”

Romans 6 : 5 ” For if we have been united together,in the likeness of His death, we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection”.

Jesus Died on the cross for us. He was buried in the tomb and on the third day he rose again, a new creation. He was a new creation as when He met some disciples on the road they did not recognise Him. We too shall die in baptism, in the likeness of Jesus.

Symbolically when we are baptized, we are dipped under the water (We Die), we are then held under the water (thank goodness not for 3 days), and we rise again, a new creation as our sinful nature has been removed. People may not recognize you as you will be a new creation. There is something so special about baptism that can only be described by those who have been through it. We bath daily, we jump into swimming pools and are often immersed in water, but with the baptism, there is something so special, a feeling that you will never forget for the rest of your life, it is the feeling of total transformation. You do come out of that water a new person.

The last point of the purpose to baptize in water is mentioned in acts 3 :38 “And you shall receive the Holy Spirit”. When you are obedient to the call of God, and you repent and get baptized in water, you will receive the Holy Spirit, who will come and live within you. Without baptism of water, you may be able to receive the Holy Spirit, but with baptism you will receive the Holy Spirit.

In summary, if your received infant baptism, it is not in accordance with the condition of biblical baptism, which is to first repent. Approach your pastor, priest or minister and ask them to baptize you in water. If your priest or pastor tells you that it is not necessary, then print this article out and show them.

To Baptize in water is one of the great gifts of Jesus, as we may be baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Our sinful nature will be removed and we shall receive the Holy Spirit.

Question by THE GUARDIAN OF FOREVER: What would happen if the Queen tried to pardon a criminal with no advice or approval from the government?
I believe that the reining monarch in the UK – Queen Elizabeth II – has some power to pardon a criminal or to commute their sentence. I am pretty sure that if she still has this power but she uses it only with the advice of the government. This is essentially the same power that the US President has, on the US President can pardon who ever he wishes and does not need to consult anyone if he chooses.

Could she do it WITHOUT the advice of the government? And what would happen if she did it? Would people try to get rid of the monarchy? Would they try and overrule her pardon?

Best answer:

Answer by Dude
It would be an impossibility. The papers needed for a Royal pardon are submitted to the Queen, she then signs them and sends them back to the Prime Minister. She has no power to request the papers be given to her.

Give your answer to this question below!
What does how was your day mean?
So if that be as it is, how many states can that part of our mandatory 24 hours take? Shady question? Yeah, I too agree. Which is why I don't understand the traditional message 'how was your day?'. How was your day? Ah, I get it. Pardon the slowness.

She is bound by constitutional conventions which prevent her carrying out such actions without being requested to do so by her Ministers. However, these powers are there, so she could use them if she so pleased.

The reaction of the government or public would depend on the situation. If she pardoned a criminal for a crime where there is public support, for example the shopkeepers prosecuted for selling bananas in pounds rather then kilos, or the man fined for leaving his bin lid open- then I think she would be supported. If on the other hand, she decided to pardon a child murderer then moves would be taken to remove her from power.

The pardon itself could not be overruled, except perhaps for an Act of Parliament, as the Royal Power cannot be challenged in court of law.
