Worst Five NBA Teams To Bet On

Article by Lenny Del Genio

Hopefully, you enjoyed and tucked away our previous NBA handicapping article on the best five teams to bet on. In this article, we look at the opposite end of the spectrum and those teams that make the worst NBA picks.

Boston Celtics 19-31-1 ATS (32-18 SU) – Here’s a surprise right off the bat. The Celtics, in first place by a wide margin in the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division, have an ATS record that is nearly opposite of the straight up mark. The problem is that the oddsmakers are still setting the lines as if this was the same Boston team of the two previous season (avg line of -6.4). Due to age and injuries, that is clearly not a reality. Most of the money burning occurred in the final two weeks before the All-Star Break when the team went on a horrendous 6-16 ATS run, including 2-11 ATS L13. Was that stretch an aberration?Washington Wizards 18-30-2 ATS (17-33 SU) – Coming into the year, the Wizards were actually supposed to contend for a playoff spot with multiple former All-Stars returning from injury. Pardon the pun, but Gilbert Arenas shot this team right out of playoff contention. Fact is that they were already way off the pace prior to the Arenas incident. Although, they have nearly twice as many losses as they do wins, Washington continues to get far too much respect from the oddsmakers as the average line in Wizards games is just +3.1. Expect that number to increase down the stretch as the team continues to fall off the playoff pace.New Jersey 20-31-1 ATS (4-48 SU) – This is just a sad situation. The Nets are on a record setting pace for NBA futility and can’t even cover despite an average line of +8.1. Believe it or not, but things were actually worse before the team covered six of its final nine games before the Break. New Jersey was not expected to be this bad (who is?) as evidenced by a 9-21 ATS start. They’ve been.500 since and figure to be getting a TON of points night in, night out in the second half. This means they actually could be worth a wager moving forward. Note, however, that they are just 9-8 ATS when taking 12 or more points this season.Dallas Mavericks 21-30-1 ATS (32-20 SU) – Here’s another surprising entrant on the list. The Mavs have spent the duration of the first half in first place of the Southwest Division, but began to sputter as they entered the Break. They started the year 9-3 ATS, which shows how bad they’ve been at the betting window ever since (3-12 ATS L15). The main reason for the pointspread woes has been their performance at home where they are just 5-19 ATS. This could be a team to fade during the second half.Indiana Pacers 21-28-3 ATS (18-34 SU) – Not many NBA bettors pay attention to this team, and given their record, why should they? Note that this is a very streaky team. They have already experienced six different losing streaks of three or more games. The pointspread rarely factors into their games as well with the SU winner NOT covering the spread only SEVEN times all season. In our next installments of our “Midseason NBA Report,” we will take a look at the top Over and Under teams in NBA betting, but until then be sure to visit Vegas Experts, where all of the sports picks are 100% guaranteed to win or you won’t be charged.
